All of the four pieces share a quality of creating their own dreamed worlds. From the sun-gilded opening of Pohádka; the passionate, romanticism of Schumann’s Fantasiestücke; the velvety darkness of Webern’s Kleine Stücke to the virtuosic Shostakovich Sonata, with its contrasts between the brutal and the endlessly romantic.” |
